Hobbies are the things we love to do in our free time. Talking about hobbies is one of the easiest and most enjoyable topics in English — it helps you connect with people and find things in common.
In English, we use three main patterns to talk about hobbies:
✦ I like / I love / I enjoy + verb-ing → “I love reading books.”
✦ I am interested in + noun/verb-ing → “I am interested in photography.”
✦ In my free time, I … → “In my free time, I watch documentaries.”
Pro Tip: After sharing your hobby, always ask the other person: “What about you? What do you like to do in your free time?” — this keeps the conversation alive!
