Lesson Explanation

Whether you are travelling abroad or helping a tourist in your city, knowing how to ask for and give directions is extremely useful. In English, directions use specific words and phrases that are easy to learn and remember.

There are two things to learn in this lesson: how to ask for directions politely, and how to understand the directions you receive — including key words like turn left, go straight, take the second right and more.

💡
Pro Tip: Always start your question politely with “Excuse me…” before asking for directions. This is the natural and respectful way to approach a stranger in English.
