In English, it is polite to use “I would like…” or “Could I have…” when ordering — these are more polite than simply saying “I want…”, which can sound too direct.
Pro Tip: Use “I’d like…” (short for “I would like”) when ordering — it is polite, natural, and used by native speakers in almost every restaurant situation.
