Lesson Explanation

There are four seasons in a year: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Each season brings different weather, different activities and a different feeling. Knowing how to talk about the seasons will help you describe the time of year, the weather, and your favourite activities.

Two important grammar points:

✦ Use “in” before a season — “I love walking in spring.”
✦ In British English we say Autumn — in American English they say Fall. Both are correct!

💡
Pro Tip: Season names do NOT need a capital letter unless they start a sentence — “I love summer.” is correct. This is different from months and days which always need capitals.
