Lesson Explanation
Numbers in English follow a clear and logical pattern. Once you learn the numbers from 1 to 20 and the tens (20, 30, 40…), you can build any number up to 100 — and beyond!
The key rule for numbers 21–99 is simple: say the tens first, then the ones, joined with a hyphen. For example: 21 = twenty-one, 45 = forty-five, 83 = eighty-three.
Watch out! Some numbers have irregular spellings — twelve (not “twolve”), forty (not “fourty”), and ninety (not “ninty”). These are the most common mistakes — memorise them carefully!
